MEMBER STORIES

Prepare to journey down a path that is rich with our Church's history as you click "Read More" on the stories below.   Each was lovingly contributed during our Homecoming activities. They have now been provided for you, in order to help capture a part of each individual's memory of their life with New Bethany Assembly of God. We have done our best to recapture each captivating story. Once inside each page, you can also "listen" to each story, as well, (using an AI generated voice, as many are no longer with us to to record their own voice.) ***If you have any pictures you would like to share with us, please CONTACT US as we would love to share those.

Merle Ozment

"They would be there about an hour praying. The men and women would come shouting through the woods to the church and when you got there, you could believe that God was going to do something."

Judy A. Jenkins Reupke

"My Mother used to tell me the story. You see, her Grandmother, Sister Rushing, was here as they laid the foundation: anointing, praying, and crying over each block that was placed, cooking and feeding the men and sweating along with those who labored with the love to make a 'Sanctuary of God'. "

Isaiah Jenkins

"Every time the Lord got to working, Aunt Dollie -she could shout. She was worse than Leon."

Maggie Rutledge

“Grove Meeting” prayers ...lasted “hours”. By the time the “grove prayer warriors” got to the “Arbor”, the Spirit and Power of God was so powerfully rich, the preacher had no trouble delivering the message...because they’d prayed the hindrances out of the way.

Sanford Haney

"Brother Mitchell...was one good preacher man. He lived in Bonifay and rode his bicycle back-and-forth to church."

John Hall

"I have a lot of fun memories of old Saints that were going here when I was young."

Coonie Smith

"There was a man that got so happy one night he ran out through the paper."

Esther Carnley

"Yes, we had miracles back then!"

Billie Laws

"I think that was the only time there was ever a goat who attended services at new Bethany."

Dwight Perkins, Sr.

"There are so many memories of childhood surrounding New Bethany."

Derotha Haney

"Sister Legear surely knew how to reach the Lord!"
